Coordinates all library services and areas under the direction of the Executive Director – Trio Library Services.  Provides leadership and management of day-to-day library activities and personnel, with a focus on customer service, access to appropriate resources and materials and encouragement and development of information literacy skills and seeking behavior among the greater campus community. Oversees and under the direction of the Executive Director, coordinates and implements the provision of library services and library spaces/areas in alignment with the missions, goals, and objectives of the college. Reviews, evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations for service improvements and implementation. Creates or participates in the development and implementation of library policies and procedures. Creates and maintains a departmental culture that is customer centric and fosters critical thinking skills and information seeking behavior among the campus community. Coordinates and implements library outreach and programming that provides relevant events and learning opportunities for the campus community. Designs and implements marketing for the department, including a strong social media presence. Implements and maintains service quality and productivity standards. Monitors and oversees daily operations of the library areas and services. Responsible for complex problem-solving by working with other library personnel, the campus community, other campus departments, vendors, and other entities outside of the library as appropriate.

Supervises the day-to-day operations of essential library services such as access services, database maintenance services and library instruction. Performs supervisory duties, collection management duties and customer service duties at a high level. May hire, supervise and train lower-level staff, student employees, volunteers, and/or interns as appropriate. May provide training, instruction, liaison services and/or consultation to patrons, including students, staff, or faculty in the use of library services. Reports to the Executive Director on all building security and facilities issues as appropriate. Seeks out and recommends grants that are relevant to the college and its mission, goals, and objectives. Represent the library on college, district and state committees as assigned.

US Department of Education, TRIO Educational Specialist/Technology Coordinator    

The Education Specialist assumes all SSS services in caseload assignment. Conducts SSS orientation and workshops. Provides individual and group counseling for participants. Maintains individual student records. Participates in staff development and in-service training meetings. Maintain current knowledge of university and federal policies and procedures, academic programs, and services. Provide students with accurate information and referrals. Complete case notes, track each incident with students, and develop retention and success strategies for each student based on student personal, academic and career goals. Contributed to the success of Annual Progression Rating for the School year for the Talent Search Program resulting in five additional years of grant funding.

Director of Testing       

Supervise, coordinate, and direct all Testing Center staff. Develop and oversee all testing activities GED, ESL Accuplacer, TSIA, CLEP, Correspondence, Distance Learning, Classroom Makeup, Special Accommodations, Virtual College of Texas, ACT and SAT. Coordinate and direct the activities of the office, manage the testing budget, approve payroll, and maintain office schedules. Work with local ISDs to provide training and assist high school instructional staff and on-site supervision of testing at local high schools as needed. Collaborate with counterparts to ensure consistent and uniform application of all functions, processes, and services within admissions across the College. Interview, select, train, supervise, and evaluate a diverse staff through the performance management system. Make appropriate staffing recommendations in accordance with college policies and procedures. Coordinate with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and Texas Education Agency to ensure compliance with state testing requirements.  Facilitate timely, professional communication and problem resolution strategies with students. Consult and collaborate with the College Registrar/Dean of Student Records Management to plan, implement, and evaluate the plans and services of the campus through data analysis. Submit monthly and annual written reports including professional improvement and growth activities.

Develop and manage syllabus materials. Responsible for selecting and compiling tests, assignments and/or online discussion exercises that permit measurement of performance relative to standardized learning objectives.  Coordinate courseware and curriculum with the academic department chair. Also responsible for reviewing any textbook and other courseware changes with the academic department chair and other full-time faculty teaching the course. Facilitate Class Instruction. Responsible for teaching the assigned class in accordance with learning objectives and session plan outlines specified by the Dean of the Department and Vice President of Instruction. Evaluate Student Performance. Administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics. All course grades will be posted on the Blackboard Grade Center. Adhere to Protocol Guidelines.

    Advises students about content and structure of postsecondary programs including graduation and/or transfer requirements for a particular program of study. Audits, monitors, and evaluates individual student academic progress. Disseminates certificate, diploma and university transfer program information to all learners and other appropriate internal and external contacts in individual or group sessions. Interprets testing results relevant to placement decisions; determines student readiness for college programs. Assists students in the development of an educational plan including choosing a program of study and/or clarifying educational goals. Informs students about alternatives, limitations, and possible consequences of academic decisions (e.g., adding, dropping, and withdrawing from courses; change of program, major and/or transfer institution) Educates students about course planning and registration processes, refers to available on-and off-campus resources to meet individual needs including career and personal counseling. Makes appropriate referrals to students perceived as at-risk, acts as an advocate as appropriate.  Maintains up-to-date knowledge about the College’s programs and requirements; consults with contacts at various transfer institutions regarding course and program transferability, admission, and graduation requirements. Develops and interprets Academic Planning Guides; maintains administrative and program information files. Develops and maintains operating procedures that minimize the likelihood and impact of errors.  Communicates electronically and in person with area high school staff and students to provide specific information about Texarkana College and its programs.  Participates in on and off campus events promoting Texarkana College, assists with orientation programs. Processes progress reports for advisees. Authorizes course withdrawals, adds, and drops as required. Manages student success courses in Moodle for advisees. Maintains administrative documents and confidential student records. May represent the academic advising department on various internal and external committees. Monitors Early Alerts in Grades First software. Develops and promotes internal communication and resource sharing to benefit student success.   Monitor course enrollment and make recommendations to appropriate staff regarding reserves, restrictions, availability, waitlisting, or closure based on program demand and course availability. Provides recommendations for continuous improvement to all services for academic advising purposes and to integrate practices and technology aimed at improving student service.  Gathers, develops, and promotes best practices for continuous improvement.  Participates in individual and team professional development, remains current with technology used to provide advising services. Performs other related duties as assigned.
