There have been many times when I have been obligated to listen to stories like the young man in the story. My friend often does this to me without intending to. I like to listen to some of the stories he tells however the problem comes when he begins to retell the story after I have heard it multiple times. He seems to have a sort of memory loss as he tells me the same few stories for months on end before it swaps to a different story of a more recent event. I often attempt to let him know that he has already told me the stories however it does not work as he continues to tell them. I feel obligated to listen because he is one of my best friends, but my patience runs thin at times. There is also a sort of guilt that comes when you cut someone off in the midst of a story to tell them you have heard it before. This guilt contributes to the feeling of being obligated to listen as well.
